#BookReview: Elastic Heart by Mary Catherine Gebhard

What do you do when the man who raped you has the entire police force in his pocket? When you’re called a slut, a whore, and a liar?

You get your own justice.

My name is Nami DeGrace, and six months ago I was a normal college student. I was volunteering on the campaign of a man I believed in, a man I thought to be good and noble. Then one night that man forced himself on me and everything changed.

The police didn’t believe me. The media reviled me. My friends abandoned me. I dropped out of college and only have one mission in life: make him pay. That is, until Nick Law came in to my life.

Indomitable, infuriating, and irresistible, Law is complicating things.

I received this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been telling Mary Catherine for months now that this is by far her best work to date.

The book explodes right off the bat with you being completely sucked into the emotional turmoil of a rape survivor. Nami can’t be described as anything but a survivor from minute one and continues to be throughout the book. You are constantly amazed at her resolve and instinct. She will do what needs to be done to make the man who raped her pay.

She can’t be his first victim, right? And she sure as hell won’t be his last.

Due to the high profile of her rapist she lost everything when the story broke, nobody wanted to believe a pillar of the community was capable of such a thing. She’s a whore, a slut, she tried to seduce a married man….right?

In an attempt to control herself and the after effects of nobody believing her account of the rape Nami begins following her attacker, tracking him, learning all she can, and plotting her revenge. He will not get away with it. Screw the system that betrayed her and let her down. She’ll get justice on her own.

Through bizarre events she meets Law. He followed her home for crying out loud! He wants to take her out to dinner?!?! He seems to understand what she’s dealing with but wants thinks her plan is flawed. Does he work for HIM or is he really this avenging, mysterious knight that really does want to help her? Why would he care? What’s in it for him? Is this just another trick on behalf of a very powerful man?

Law finds himself with a dilemma, complete his task or risk it all. He can’t reveal all his secrets to the woman he wants and knows that keeping secrets from someone recently raped doesn’t make for the best relationship, especially when she’s already convinced his secrets will destroy her. What can he do to keep her close but at arms-length until his mission is complete?

Despite her recent attack Nami finds herself drawn to Law. He angers her and turns her on at the same time. How can she feel such lust for a man who is working for the man that raped her? What does it say about her?

You will be flipping the pages or swiping your finger as fast as you can to get to the next page because you NEED to know what happens next! Mary Catherine has stepped it up and created a mystery and love story you never thought possible. If you don’t buy this book you’re missing out on not only an amazing story but one of many amazing stories from an author that is destined to take the literary world by storm.
