5:00am – 6:00am: Wake up at some point and look around confused. I fell asleep on the couch and remember waking up a few times in my bed but I cried out for Mommy so she took me out to the couch and laid with me so I wouldn’t be afraid anymore, it’s dark and lonely at night in my room. Now I’m in bed with Daddy and Mommy is missing.
6:00am – 7:00am: I’m usually grumpy from waking up too early, closer to 5:00am, or happy because I woke up closer to 6:00am. Regardless, I’ve sat with my Gigi and drank some milk and am now roaming the house. Turns out Mommy was in the bathroom playing with her hair and putting that funny stuff on her face. I noticed that it’s been a while since I talked about my favorite girl.
For those that follow me or have enjoyed my posts on being a first time parent this is for you!
Shit is happening fast!
That’s the first thing that pops into my head. Two months ago she was still an infant, that is no longer the case! In two short months my baby left and this toddler took her place! How did that happen?!?! Continue reading “My Favorite Girl”
Can you believe it!! Emerson is 6 months old!
She’s on the verge of crawling. she’s got two teeth in and the third just broke through the gum. She says, “mamamamamamama” when she’s upset, whiny or tired. When she sees me, her Daddy or Gigi she’s quick to say “Hey” in the sweet little voice that melts you’re heart.
It’s all going by fast quickly but in the same breath some days seem longer than others.
She’s got this laugh that makes your heart swell. It makes her whole body shake. When I sing to her she smiles at me with her toothy grin like I’m the greatest singer in the world. When she’s really excited she lets out the high-pitch squeal that will break glass but I love it!
I honestly never imagined that having a child would bring so much joy and wonder to my life. I think more than anything that it’s this specific child that does it for me. I can’t imagine her being anyone else. I ask myself daily how I got so lucky to be able to be her Mommy.
As some of you may or may not know I’m a HUGE fan and admirer of Ralph Waldo Emerson. I name my daughter after him. I look to his writings for advice, inspiration and guidance.
I’ve decided that to pay tribute to this great man I’ll be posting a quote or writing of his every Wednesday in the hopes that many of you will come to love him as I do.
This week I’m going to start with the first quote I ever saw of his and what led me to research and discover more about him.

I’ve been so busy at work and at home that I found this quote to be apt about how I feel about it.
